11-5-24 THOUGHTS
The place of Messiah in “the plan to save man” is one of preeminence! Read the first two chapters of both Ephesians and Colossians! In our reading this morning, we find several powerful points. Verse 7 replays the garden scene where Christ passionately begs for the cup of suffering to be passed by. The text says simply “He was heard because of His piety.” The Son of God did not get what he asked for! But he WAS heard! EVEN HE learned through suffering. Heb 4:15 says “For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as [we are, yet] without sin.” At a great cost, God’s perfect plan was perfectly completed! Verse 9 states... “And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation...”! Praise be to our God! Can we see the power in these words?
Heb 5:1-9 For every high priest taken from among men is appointed on behalf of men in things pertaining to God, in order to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins; 2 he can deal gently with the ignorant and misguided, since he himself also is beset with weakness; 3 and because of it he is obligated to offer sacrifices for sins, as for the people, so also for himself. 4 And no one takes the honor to himself, but receives it when he is called by God, even as Aaron was. 5 So also Christ did not glorify Himself so as to become a high priest, but He who said to Him, "YOU ARE MY SON, TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU"; 6 just as He says also in another passage, "YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK." 7 In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety. 8 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. 9 And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,
My Prayer:
O Father God, Your plan to save us was and is so perfect! It is perfect because You are perfect!
We praise You as greatly as we can. Grow our praise and thanksgiving as You grow our relationship with Yourself. Increase our desire, our want to walk closer to You each day. We wish to abide in You continually. Help us, Father, to make it happen. We need You every hour. May we overcome and have that living hope You have promised.
In the name of our Savior, Amen.
